Sycamore Close Rebuild

What's Happening at Sycamore Close

The New Sycamore Hall December 8th

Frank Haslam Milan will commence building an Extra Care housing development at Sycamore Close on behalf of Housing21 and North Yorkshire County Council.

The development of the 40 bed Extra Care accomodation will initially be for elderly residents from High Hall Residential Home and Sycamore Close Sheltered Housing.

FrankHaslamMilan (in a new window) and Housing21 (in a new window) have previously worked in partnership at Gateshead, constructing three previous schemes which are now open with the fourth under construction. The schemes have won two local awards for innovation.

The key aim of this development is to improve the quality of life, and offer more choice and independence to the residents who will be living at Sycamore Hall.

The scheme also includes communal facilities and a day centre with assisted bathing facilities.

The development will take place in two phases. In the first phase the bungalows and flats to the right of the site will be demolished and 16 flats and all utilities will be completed by the end of 2005. The present residents will then move across to the new flats.

In the second phase the remaining buildings will be removed and 24 more flats will be built.

The site manager for this project is Stuart Rutherford from Richmond.

We are creating a diary of events to show the different stages of the development.
